SARASOTA FL – UPDATED: Florida Highway Patrol has released full details of the fatal accident on Lockwood Ridge Road and Clark Road in Sarasota Friday morning.

The crash took place as 53 year old man from Sarasota was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Clark Road approaching a red light at the intersection with Lockwood Ridge Road.

At the same time a 93 year old man from Sarasota was driving a Honda Sedan heading north on Lockwood Ridge Road.

As the two vehicles closed on the intersection a 24 year old woman from Bradenton driving a Toyota Sedan was lawfully stopped in the left turn lane of westbound Clark Road with the pick up truck approaching from behind.

The 93 year old driver of the Honda sedan had the green light and lawfully drove into the intersection with Clark attempting to turn left onto the westbound lanes of Clark Road.

At 9:06 AM the pickup truck failed to stop for the red light and crashed into the left side of the front of the Honda sedan at speed. The force of the impact caused the car to be redirected, where it crashed into the Toyota sedan that was waiting in the turn lane at the intersection and all three vehicles came to a stop.

Sarasota County EMS pronounced the driver of the Honda sedan dead at the scene.

The driver of the stopped Toyota sedan suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck who ran the stoplight initiated the accident suffered minor injuries.
