MANATEE COUNTY – FHP has announced that a woman injured during a roadside crash last week has since died from her injuries.

The accident happened on the afternoon of June 21st, as an 18-year-old woman from Bradenton was driving a Sport Utility Vehicle heading east on State Road 70 approaching the intersection with Receiving.

Driving directly in front of the SUV was a sedan driven by a 60-year-old woman from Bradenton.

Traveling at a fair distance behind the 18-year-old in the SUV, was a 28-year-old woman from Palmetto, also driving a sport utility vehicle.

At 1:40:00 PM, the left front of the SUV driven by the 18-year-old woman from Bradenton crashed into the right rear of the sedan driven by the 60-year-old woman from Bradenton.

After the crash both vehicles came to a controlled stop in the right lane of eastbound State Road 70 (53rd Ave East).

After being rear-ended the 60-year-old woman from Bradenton exited her sedan and walked over to speak with the 18-year-old driver of the SUV.

At that point, the third vehicle, the SUV driven by the 28-year-old woman from Palmetto, failed to stop for the accident. The right front of the SUV collided with the rear of the stopped SUV that rear-ended the sedan also crashing into the 60-year-old  woman who was exchanging information with the other stopped driver.

The 60-year-old woman from Bradenton was critically injured as a result of the accident and transported to a local hospital.

Both the driver of the SUV who initially rear-ended the sedan and the third vehicle that struck the pedestrian suffered only minor injuries in the crash.

FHP later announce that the 60-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries and passed away on June 27th.

Troopers have stated that the accident remains under investigation.
