PALMETTO – Florida Highway Patrol announced a car accident with multiple injuries Monday afternoon.
The crash took place as a 42-year-old man from Bradenton Florida was stopped at the intersection of 105th Street East (Roman Road) and US 41 in a sedan. Also in the sedan was a 46-year-old man from Bradenton Florida.
As the vehicle was stopped on 105th Street East, a sedan driven by a 69-year-old man from Rhinebeck New York was traveling northbound on US 41 approaching the intersection with 105th Street East with a 67-year-old woman also from Rhinebeck New York.
At 1:55:00 PM the driver of the sedan stopped at 105th Street East, failed to yield, and attempted to cross the northbound lanes of US 41 entering the path of the oncoming car.
The front of the car traveling on US 41 collided with the left side of the sedan crossing from 105th Street East.
The force of the crash caused the car crossing US 41 to rotate before coming to a stop in the right turn lane of US 41.
After the crash, the northbound sedan came to a stop in the right turn lane of US 41.
THe driver and passenger of the car that failed to yield were taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton with serious injuries.
The 67-year-old woman also from Rhinebeck New York was critically injured in the crash and also taken to Medical Center in Bradenton for emergency medical treatment.
The 69-year-old man from Rhinebeck New York sustained only minor injuries in the traffic accident.
FHP has stated that the crash is under investigation.
