Manatee County – Florida Highway Patrol has announced that one person is in serious condition after a four-vehicle crash in Manatee County Friday morning.
According to the report by FHP, the crash began as a Cadillac driven by a 27-year-old man from Bradenton, Florida was driving northbound on U.S. 41 approaching Cortez Road. The second vehicle, a Ford sport utility vehicle driven by a 34-year-old man from Bradenton, Florida was driving eastbound on State Road 684 (Cortez Road) approaching the intersection of U.S. 41.
A third vehicle, a (Dodge) sedan driven by a 38-year-old man from Dallas, Texas and a fourth vehicle a (Nissan sedan), driven by a 44-year-old man from Palmetto, Florida were adjacent to one another and stopped for the traffic signal facing west on Cortez Road at the intersection of U.S. 41.
At 6:03 A.M. The Cadillac continued northbound on U.S. 41 into the intersection disregarding a red traffic signal. The Cadillac collided with the right side of the Ford sport utility vehicle.
After colliding with the Ford sport utility vehicle, the Cadillac collided with the Dodge sedan pushing it into the Nissan sedan.
All four vehicles came to a final rest within the intersection obstructing the westbound lanes of Cortez Road.
The driver of the Cadillac was issued a Uniform Traffic Citation F.S.S. 316.075 (1) ( c) 1- Failing to stop for a steady red light and F.S.S. 322.34 (2) Driving while License Suspended, Revoked, or Canceled with Knowledge.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate this traffic crash.
